| What safety measures are avaliable on trikes? |
|
|
Actually quite a few! First of all, if the engine quits unexpectedly, the trike's wing glides, slowly descending the aircraft at approximate vertical speed of 3m/sec. In the unlikely event when the wing gets damaged, a pilot may deploy an optional ballistic recovery system, which is basically a large parachute that descends the whole aircraft with the occupants down to safety at the approximate vertical speed of 7m/sec. Some trikes are equipped with safety cables running through the frame to ensure it's integrity in the event of rough emergency landing. As the wing is bolted to the trike frame with a single bolt known as the "Jesus Bolt", some trikes are equipped with safety cables that provide a backup in the event if such a bolt breaks. All the Poisk trikes that we fly at Open Skies Aviation are equipped with all of the above safety features. Remember, no safety measures are as efficient as safe flying practices! |
