First Poisk Tundra ultralight trike built specifically for rural Canadian flying conditions was successfully test-flown at King George Airpark on August 4, 2009. The Tundra is based on legendary Russian-made triangular Poisk frame designed to withstand demanding industrial and military applications. ![]() The maiden flight of Poisk Tundra trike on August 4, 2009 This trike was custom-assembled by Open Skies Aviation Ltd. of Surrey, BC for Walter Martin, who plans to use it on his rural ranch near Kamloops, BC.
The 2-seater Poisk Tundra trike features Russian-made single surface 18 sq m Nebo wing with in-flight adjustable electric trim, Austrian-made 80HP Rotax 912 engine equipped with Ukranian-made 3-blade Luga propeller, hydraulic rear brakes, 60L fuel tank, Russian-made Ballistic Recovery System, tundra tires, front and rear shocks, analog and digital instruments.
![]() This sturdy triangular frame is the reason why Poisk trikes are being actively used for geological surveys, agruculture and even combat applications The trim of the wing can be adjusted in-flight to vary the airspeed in the range from 50 to 100 kmh. The rocket-deploable Ballistic Recovery System is secured underneath the pilot's seat.
