Student of the month: Paul E-mail
Paul has recently taken a flight training course with us and agreed for a short interview with Victor. We hope to publish such interviews more often to let our students share their first-hand experience with you.

I am very pleased that I am taking this course

Victor: A few words about yourself Paul

Paul: My name is Paul Sveinbjornson. I reside in Sundre, Alberta. I work on the drilling side of the oilfield.

Victor: Why trikes?

Paul: I’ve always been interested in flying. My feeling is that the trikes give you the closest equivalent of flying like a bird while confined airplanes do not.

Victor: Why Open Skies Aviation?

Paul: Finding good qualified trike flight instructor is extremely difficult. I researched the Internet for the instructors from Mexico to Canada. One of the most well-known US instructors who also teaches in Mexico during winter months, turned me down because I am over 225 lbs.

Since I couldn’t find instruction close to home that would also fit my work schedule, I decided to combine a course in flying with a vacation. Open Skies Aviation located near beautiful White Rock, BC fit that bill for me completely. Mountains, ocean, rivers and valley views are combined in each flight. Plus, the area is within easy reach from Vancouver, Victoria, Whistler and Seattle. The seafood is the best that can be found anywhere!

Victor: How would you describe your flight training experience?

Paul: The training program offered by Open Skies Aviation is very thorough and professional. Mikhail is very qualified and excellent instructor. The biggest bonus for me was the training trike’s side-by-side seating configuration. It is the only one of its kind that I know of in North America. Such seating arrangement gives the student a better feeling of flying compare to traditional seating behind the instructor. It also makes for better visual ability and communication between the student and the instructor. Thus the instructor can observe the student as he/she progresses through the course and can identify and correct the errors sooner.

I am very pleased that I am taking this course. The whole package from the flight training to vacation has been A+. Thanks Victor and Mikhail!
