Basic ultralights may be used by the flight instructors to train students and by pilots to carry other pilots licensed for Ultralights or Aeroplanes. Ultralight instructors may also perform discovery (introductory) flights for potential students. Basic Ultralights can never be used to carry passengers who are neither pilots nor students, no matter what licence is held by the pilot in command.

Among other qualification, the applicants for the Flight Instructor Rating - Ultra-Light Aeroplane should be at least 18 years of age and accumulate a minimum of 50 hours of flight time including 5 hours of dual instruction flight time, 5 hours of dual flight time on instructional techniques and 25 hours of solo flight time.
